Glacier Collapses Without Warning


The Tharu Glacier on the Kedarnath pedestrian trekking route suddenly collapsed, creating a significant obstruction along the path. At the time of the incident, labourers and government employees engaged in pre-pilgrimage preparation work were present at the site.


Route Blocked, Risk Remains for Travellers


Following the glacier break, the trekking path has been completely blocked. It is being reported that movement is currently happening over the surface of the snow and ice, making the situation risky for those attempting to pass.


No Casualties Reported, Restoration Underway


No loss of life has been reported so far. According to the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), teams have been deployed to clear the route at the earliest. Officials stated that the pedestrian path will be restored soon.
