Congress In-Charge Selja Arrives in Uttarakhand on Five-Day Tour to Quell Internal Factionalism

Selja's First Uttarakhand Visit in Over Two Months

Congress in-charge Kumari Selja is arriving in Rudrapur today for a five-day tour of Uttarakhand, after approximately two and a half months. Her last visit to Dehradun was on January 8, 2026. This visit comes amid heightened factionalism within the state Congress unit, which has spilled into public view through a series of statements by senior leaders against each other.

Schedule of Meetings Across the State

As per preparations confirmed by Pradesh Congress president Ganesh Godiyal, Selja will hold meetings with party workers and senior leaders at multiple locations. Her itinerary includes Rudrapur in Udham Singh Nagar, Haldwani in Nainital, Kotdwar in Pauri, Haridwar, and finally Dehradun, where she will meet the city committee, district committee, and state-level leaders. All senior leaders have been asked to be present at these meetings.

Harish Rawat Remains Silent on Attending Meetings

Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, who has been on a 15-day leave, will complete his break on April 10. However, Selja is scheduled to be in Dehradun on April 11 and 12. Rawat, without confirming his attendance at the party meetings, said he will at least go to welcome the in-charge with a bouquet. He had earlier stated that he needed time to finalize his book titled Uttarakhandiyat Part 2, and may extend his leave if necessary.
