Congress in Chaos: Factionalism Grips Uttarakhand Party as Godiyal Struggles to Form His Team

Godiyal Caught Between Party Factions

Uttarakhand Congress president Ganesh Godiyal finds himself increasingly isolated on the political front. Rather than countering the BJP's attacks, he has been spending his energy managing internal conflicts within his own party.

The party has pinned high hopes on the 2027 assembly elections to return to power in Uttarakhand. However, instead of unity, open factionalism is emerging among its senior leaders.

Executive Committee Remains Undecided

Despite being at the helm of the Uttarakhand Congress for over four months, Godiyal has not yet been able to finalise his executive committee. Senior party leaders are all lobbying to get their supporters included in the committee, while the high command is reluctant to approve an oversized panel. This deadlock has kept the committee formation in limbo for nearly two months, creating uncertainty and frustration within party ranks.

Godiyal Calls for Unity, Promises Team Soon

Addressing the internal tensions, Godiyal urged all party leaders to stop making public statements against each other and bring their grievances to the party forum instead. He warned that such public feuds damage the party's image at a time when unity is essential to unseat the BJP in the 2027 assembly elections. He also assured workers and supporters that the state executive committee would be announced soon.
