Youth Play a Vital Role in Kumbh Rituals
As preparations for the Kumbh Mela 2026 in Haridwar gain momentum, religious leaders and saints are observing a significant shift — the growing participation of young people in sacred rituals. Mahant Govind Das of Shri Panchayati Bada Akhada Udaaseen confirmed that the upcoming Ardh Kumbh is being organised on the scale of a full Kumbh, and the enthusiasm among youth is remarkable.
Kumbh Traditions Remain Intact Amid Modern Changes
According to Mahant Govind Das, while major events like the Shahi Snan and Dharm Dhwaja Sthapana cannot be fully replicated outside the main Kumbh cycle, the Ardh Kumbh 2026 at Haridwar will still preserve all major traditions. Saints and sadhus are committed to participating wholeheartedly. As the number of pilgrims has grown tremendously with modernisation, it is essential for all to respect the faith that drives them.
Yoga as an Ancient Practice to Reach Hundreds of Youth
Yoga has been an ancient spiritual tradition, with roots traced back to Lord Shiva passing its wisdom to Mata Parvati, and later to Maharishi Patanjali, who composed the Patanjali Yoga Sutras in Varanasi. This knowledge passed through generations of rishis and is now being actively promoted at Kumbh. This year at Haridwar, hundreds of young people will be engaged in yoga, spirituality, and meditation activities, continuing a grand tradition of connecting youth to the living heritage of India.
